In this presentation, Dr. Lord will draw on her research with MIDFIELD (a large multi-institutional dataset) to explore how metaphors influence mindsets and metrics for studying persistence in engineering education focusing on pipeline, pathways, and ecosystems metaphors. In addition, Dr. Lord will share reflections from her own journey as a woman and an engineer who values inclusive and innovative teaching.
