UCI Education Research Initiative (ERI) has a number of exciting opportunities in the coming months. For those interested in learning more about the ERI and joining our mailing list, please visit the ERI website.
ERI November Seminar Speaker
We are thrilled to bring out our next speaker in the ERI seminar series, Dr. Julie Posselt from the Rossier School of Education at USC. Dr. Posselt studies institutional inequalities in higher education and efforts to reduce these inequalities in graduate education, STEM fields, and research-intensive universities. Her talk, Quantum Insights for Cultural Change: The Case of STEM Graduate Education, will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on November 7, in the Engineering Colloquia Room (Engineering Hall 2430).
If you are interested in attending the talk, please RSVP here.
ERI Faculty Success Program (FSP) Support
We are excited to offer scholarships for the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity’s Faculty Success Program (FSP). FSP provides a structured program aimed to help faculty develop productivity both professionally and personally. You are put into a small group with other faculty from across the country and a coach guides you through the 12 week program.
As this program focuses on research productivity, ERI will support faculty who are looking to develop their own education research productivity, including working on developing a grant idea, designing a research study, and working on a manuscript.
For more information on the specifics of this support, please go here. The deadline to apply for this support is November 4, 2019.
Careers in Education Research Panel
Are you interested in measuring teaching effectiveness or pathways of student success? Perhaps even as part of your current or future career?
Join us as four UCI faculty members discuss their different pathways to careers in education research. The panelists include Penelope Collins (School of Education), Diane O’Dowd (School of Biological Sciences and Vice Provost of Academic Personnel), Laura Tucker (School of Physical Sciences), and Adrienne Williams (School of Biological Sciences). Snacks will be provided. Attendees will be able to ask questions about training, current research, and suggested next steps.
The panel will take place from 2-3 p.m. on November 20, in 1030 AIRB. If you are interested in attending this event, please RSVP here.
