ERI March Seminar Speaker: Julie Dangremond Stanton
On March 12 and 13, the UCI Education Research Initiative is hosting Dr. Julie Dangremond Stanton, Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology at the University of Georgia. Dr. Dangremond Stanton will be presenting a talk from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on March 12 in Engineering Hall 2430 and a workshop from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on March 13 in 3700 Anteater Learning Pavilion (lunch will be provided). Her talk, titled “Metacognitive Regulation: How Undergraduates Evaluate and Adjust their approaches to Learning Science” will focus on her research characterizing STEM students’ use of metacognitive skills through surveys and interviews and how these change as students progress through college. Her seminar, “Including Metacognition in our Courses” will enable attendees to consider how metacognition is important for their students and to develop a classroom activity to help students practice a metacognitive skill.

Sign Up for ERI Writing Groups
Education Research Initiative-sponsored education writing groups are intended for education researchers in all stages.
- Generating research questions
- Refining research questions
- Designing studies and collecting data
- Preparing papers for submission
- Drafting grant proposals
- And more!
Writing groups include one weekly session and subgroups that meet about once a month. One meets in person on Thursdays 12-2 p.m., the second meets virtually on Monday afternoons. More groups continue to be added.
