Identifying the Impact of the New Anteater Learning Pavilion on Student Success

There is considerable evidence that active learning pedagogies improve academic success, particularly for at-risk students. To facilitate the adoption of these teaching practices, the University of California Irvine has built the Anteater Learning Pavilion, which contains a number of large lecture halls and smaller classrooms that are designed with active learning in mind. This project will identify whether these classrooms are impacting teaching practices as well as student academic and non-cognitive outcomes. Data to be collected include course grades, surveys, classroom observations, and student and faculty interviews.
