ERI February Seminar Speaker: Alison Flynn

Alison FlynnThe Education Research Initiative team is thrilled to introduce our next speaker in the ERI seminar series, Alison Flynn, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Ottawa. Her work includes developing online learning tools as Open Education Resources to support student learning, including OrgChem101 and a Growth & Goals Module. Her research group examines student learning in organic chemistry and the impacts of the Growth & Goals module. In all her work, she is committed to helping students succeed in their chosen careers and goals. Her talk, “Studies on student learning in an organic chemistry curriculum designed to deepen understanding of reactivity and chemistry principles,” will be held on Thursday, February 18 from 1-2 p.m. on Zoom.

Join the ERI “In Progress” Talk on February 26

Fernando RodriguezThis month we are inviting ERI mini-grant recipient, Fernando Rodriguez, assistant professor of teaching in UCI School of Education, and his team to discuss their project, “Understanding and Improving Student’s Critical Thinking in the Age of Fake News, Sensational Headlines and Seductive Information.” Fernando’s team will share progress, discuss plans for assessment and look for feedback from the UCI community as they continue their work. This discussion will take place from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, February 26 on Zoom.
